TROSKY BASEBALL ACADEMY ADVANTAGE
Our vision for Trosky Baseball Academy is to mold our student-athletes to become dominant at the next level both in the classroom and on the field. We do this by providing the highest level of education with real-life application and daily MLB-level player development for our middle school student-athletes. We develop the whole athlete. Integrity. Character. Work Ethic. Mental Toughness. They may enter as boys, but they will leave as young men.
ACADEMICS
The core foundational and traditional subject areas of math, social sciences, history, and English language arts will be taught.
Checkpoints for understanding are embedded throughout the year. Our goal is to have Trosky Baseball Academy students be prepared to enter any high school seamlessly and adhere to the high expectations associated with being a student-athlete. For this reason, CA standards are met for each area taught at Trosky Baseball Academy.
Social skills learning improves students' positive behavior and reduces negative behavior while providing a needed structure for social engagement. Additionally, social skills can help your student to become a better learner and lay the foundation for success in the world.
We believe in developing the whole student-athlete which includes mental as well as physical strength. Our mental health professionals work with our educational and baseball staff to discuss and teach skills such as mindfulness, visualization, and breathing. Evidence-based coping skills are taught to the student-athlete. These skills cover all aspects of life and baseball.
Imagine applying fractions and percentages to baseball statistics to gain a sense of relatedness to the subject matter. We do exactly that at Trosky Baseball Academy. We create excitement for learning through hands-on learning and application. Students need to feel a connection to the material being taught to develop higher-order thinking and problem-solving. At Trosky Baseball Academy, students will also have the opportunity to engage in mock interviews while practicing their communication and social skills. Financial literacy will be an area of focus as the landscape of the world is shifting.
Each student is unique in learning style so we customize each learning experience. We accomplish this through the use of multimodal teaching as well as continually checking for understanding before moving the student on.
Our class sizes are no larger than 20 students per class. The reduced class size allows our teachers the opportunity to get to know each of the students individually so that we can best support his growth throughout the program. To understand the best way to support each student, our teachers take the time to understand the context and academic history of the student as well as work alongside our coaches to ensure continuity and teamwork across academics and baseball.
Each student-athlete will be taught to work from a growth mindset rather than a closed one. Each student-athlete will learn that change creates opportunities and opportunities create growth. A champion mindset is the foundation of our program. When we change our mindset, we change our perception into opportunities and challenges rather than obstacles and barriers.
ATHLETICS
Retired MLB baseball players train and develop our student-athletes every day at school. Our students have the unique opportunity to work with big leaguers who have competed at the highest levels.
Professional speed and agility coaches to MLB players both active and retired work directly with our student-athletes twice a week at school.
Each of our student-athletes is assessed by our all MLB staff and their nutritionists. Each of our athletes is then put on a meal plan specific to their performance goals. They receive catered snacks and lunch daily at school from our sponsored food company, Fresh and Lean. Meals are planned a week ahead of time for each of our student-athletes.
Our MLB staff is completely hands-on with every one of our student-athletes. They get to train, be mentored, and be directly coached by professional baseball players in every aspect of the game. Retired MLB players work for 3 hours per day, 5 days a week in the areas of fielding, hitting, pitching, catching, strength, speed, mental conditioning, mechanics, and nutrition with our student-athletes at school.
Of all sports, baseball is a mental game. To reach your full potential in baseball, or in life, we believe one must conquer their thoughts to achieve success in either. MWA offers professional MLB-level mindset training in the areas of visualization, imagery, positive self-talk, goal setting, and confidence-building workshops. Our student-athletes have access to some of the best sports therapists in the world.
Trainers to MLB players work directly with our student-athletes two days a week at school to help them reach their performance goals both short-term and long-term. Individualized plans based on position and needs.
Our student-athletes will learn situational baseball from our MLB staff both in the classroom and on the field every day at school.
Our student-athletes receive hands-on weekly on-field individual and group instruction in an MLB warmup and practice format and environment. They will also have the opportunity to play against each other in a couple of controlled intrasquad games per week run by our MLB staff.
