BUILDING ELITE MOVERS

Elite movers dance with the ball - light, loose, free, and easy. Their movement is in rhythm, in sequence, and in time. They flow like water, a river, a wave. The ability to move weightless and without effort is a quality possessed by few, a quality recognized as one of the great separators in the game of baseball. Players that move with freedom are considered to be plus-actions. We refer to them as "Elite Movers". The opposite of this is what we call "STiff Movers". Stiff movers lack felxibility and mobility, making it difficult to play in posture. This is a serious problem because posture is the positioning of the body that unlocks performance. Posture minimizes movement and effort, and maximizes athleticism and output.

When a player is out of posture, they're in compromised positions that detract from the fielding sequence, ultimately affecting the performance - including their efficiency, athleticism, range, adjustability, and versatility. The underlying result is inconsistent play executioin.

Sequence is the order in which the body moves to accomplish a task. It consists of a progression of movements with starting point and an ending point, finishing with a result. If there is an interruption to the sequence, the outcome is affected. The greater the interruption, the greater the effect. Players spend the majority of their practice hours participating in drills. Example, taking ground balls. Within their training, they rarely address the issues of stiffness. This is a foudnational problem because stiffness creates tension, and tension is an extra weight that causes infielders to feel stiff and locked up, whihc is the complete opposite of the Elite Mover - who is light, loose, free, and easy. Tension is also responsible of hesitation and delay, ultimately affecting actions and flow of a player.

The "Breathing Routine" teaches infielders how to relax, slow down, be present, and release weight and tension.

The Jump Rope Routine is an athletic warmup that stimulates blood flow, priming the body for a session of infield yoga.
